"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."

Romans 6:6
The old man must be nailed to the cross. The cross is a place of death. The flesh resist going to the cross; for it has no desire to be crucified, to be mocked, to be laughed at, to wear a crown of thorns, and certainly does not desire to be rejected. When the old man is nailed to the cross, the new man can arise in Christ and shine for the glory of God. The new man will abhor sin, resist sin, cry out against sin, and refuse to serve sin. Victory over the old man is discovered only at the cross. Death of the old man brings peace, joy, and a lack of fear. "Perfect love cast out fear." Love was perfected on the cross! Have you been there. Once the old man is crucified, you will no longer be ashamed of Christ; you will desire and seek to walk in truth and holiness. The mind of Christ in all things will be your utmost desire when you've been to the cross.
